Swarovski Watches Collection 2009
Since 1895, Swarovski’s unique savoir-faire has made the company shine as the world’s leading producer of cut crystal. A visionary on a quest for perfection, Daniel Swarovski I created the first mechanical method for cutting and polishing crystal jewellery stones. With over one hundred years of experience and innovation in crystal, Swarovski has made a name for itself in jewellery and fashion accessories over the last few decades. Today, Swarovski again shows its desire to explore the infinite possibilities of crystal as it ventures into the field of watchmaking in 2009.
“The time has come for Swarovski to present its own collection of watches. Introducing Swarovski crystal to the world of watches is the culmination of over three years of research and development. It’s also a real step forward for our company,” summarises Robert Buchbauer, who is a member of the Executive Board and a member of the Swarovski family. Designed under the Creative Direction of Nathalie Colin at Swarovski, “This collection is aimed at the multifaceted woman. It is inspired by life, by day, by night, by each moment lived by this independent and modern, fashion-conscious woman.”
Creation, innovation and perfection are the Swarovski values that bring this new collection to life. The collection, which is grouped into five lines, comprises forty-five watches asserting Swarovski’s creative legacy in the purest observance of watchmaking tradition. Of these lines, “Avant Time” represents the concept of total creative freedom, giving free rein to a designer invited to work with Swarovski. The result is a collection of exceptional pieces embodying Swarovski’s visionary view of time.
Creation
By creating a new harmony between form and function, Swarovski watches maximize the extraordinary luminous qualities of crystal. For this collection, Swarovski presents new exclusive cuts and, transforming and playing with light. Metal, leather and rubber are enhanced with crystals in all shapes and sizes to deliver today’s one-of-a-kind collection. Swarovski signature elements appear in every line as a unifying theme. Swarovski’s logo and its emblematic Swanflower™ motif recur in each model.
Innovation
Apart from the new crystal cuts developed exclusively for these timepieces, Swarovski fuses all of its savoir-faire with Swiss watchmaking expertise to guarantee its watches are of the highest quality and precision. In line with the perfection so dear to Swarovski, it took two years of meticulous, persistent development to meet its uncompromising level of expectation. Ever the precursor in its field, Swarovski pushes the limits of crystal by setting new standards for technical and technological innovations. This determination finds its most audacious expression in what is both a bejewelled timepiece and a watch: the “D:Light”.

OCTEA SPORT
With its pure, balanced lines, “Octea Sport” propels Swarovski into the very selective universe of fashion watchmaking. Inspired by diving watches, this sporty timepiece combines the reliability of a Swiss quartz calibre movement with the delicacy of crystal. Poetically capturing light, this watch makes transparency a very glamorous asset indeed. In a world where personality expresses itself in daily life, Swarovski has designed a timepiece hinting at excess. Created for today’s woman, it takes up the challenge of being both functional and elegant.
The angles of its stainless steel case are faceted like Swarovski crystals. With its Swiss-made quartz movement this watch sports a unidirectional rotating bezel - a veritable technical achievement. A timer appears at the heart of the “Soleil” cut crystal with its unique faceting and very special sparkle. Sporty and chic with its double-level 39-mm dial, strong numbering and hand-applied indexes, this watch is made for action. Cleverly designed, it meets international standards of sportsmanship and water resistance. Thanks to its luminescent hands and a robust non-reflecting sapphire crystal watch glass, this eye-catching model is particularly easy to read.
The wide cabochon-set crown, bears the signature metallic Swan on a lacquer base. This model is also adorned with the Swanflower™ motif on its back which is engraved in high relief. The “Octea Sport” can be worn on a metal bracelet or on a soft rubber strap enhanced by six faceted crystals, traditionally mounted and set.The faceted horns and buckle are further Swarovski markers which illustrate the company’s expertise. This line is available in several colours as well as in a sports version with a stainless steel bracelet and butterfly clasp. “Octea Sport” has already taken its place as the must-have, timeless watch in Swarovski’s future.

BAGUETTE
The “Baguette” watch symbolizes the rich heritage of Swarovski’s crystal expertise. The exceptional piece is fitted with baguette-cut crystals turning this watch into an eye-catching jewel in its own right. The evening accessory has been designed for the elegant, refined woman with a love of wristwatches. Its geometric design, clean lines and cascading facets bend and shape the light via regular and sophisticated prisms.
The square case in polished steel features a simple face delicately illuminated by three miniature crystals and a swan at the top. The base of the galvanic dial features a tone-on-tone effect with a sunray or mother-of-pearl finish, while the sapphire crystal that protects the faceted hands has been treated so as to complete the mirroring effect of sparkling crystal. Other inimitable features include the company’s logo beneath an oversized cabochon glass crown and the Swanflower™ engraving on the back of the case.
The jewellery bracelet is made up of 16 identical faceted baguette-cut crystals, playing upon the theme of repetition, infinity and eternity. Each crystal is housed in a polished steel bezel setting, while the steel bracelet offers flexibility and comfort. The clasp features a side-release mechanism. Found throughout the 2009 collection, the Swiss movement incorporated into the watch ensures lasting quality and timekeeping accuracy.
The piece is available with a choice of clear, Jet Hematite or Amethyst-coloured Baguette-cut crystals, as well as a matching coloured dial. The version with gold-tone steel bracelet is particularly eye-catching and sees each “Baguette” transformed into a veritable gold ingot. The “Baguette” line represents the embodiment of the Swarovski wristwatch, incorporating the company’s vision of luxurious, exceptional and truly unique design.

PIAZZA
Inspired by urban forms and contemporaneous architecture, the “Piazza” line will delight anyone looking for modern, clean, feminine styling. Full of character and 36mm in diameter, this watch offers crystal design at its most effective. A hand-set metallic appliqué swan – the company’s logo – sits at the top of a circular face, while each hour is marked by four miniature crystal chatons in Swarovski’s exclusive Xilion-cut, which appear to float in relief over the large opaline dial.
The soft, round galvanic face features a sunray finish, which combines elegantly with the delicate faceted hands. Swarovski lettering is engraved on one side of the large polished casing, while on the other a metallic logo adorns the crown. For the strap, Swarovski has employed Crystal Mesh, one of its most innovative materials and a popular look from its fashion accessory range. Mounted on leather, it forms a river of crystals and is both comfortable and flexible.
This elegantly refined faceted crystal material adds a scintillatingly glamorous touch to the wrist, in either Jet Hematite, Golden Shadow or Crystal colouring. A more traditional look is available with a white, black or pink genuine leather strap, or beige leather and gold-tone steel. A further unique feature of the watch is its exceptionally elegant clasp, which combines a ribbon of crystals with discreet, hidden magnets. All of Swarovski’s expertise has been incorporated into the timepiece, which is completed by the precision and quality of the Swiss ETA movement.

ELIS
The “Elis” line draws its inspiration from the pyramid, a universal and timeless structure that lends the watch a resolutely modern, simple and clear design. The square case features a succession of facets and angles that offer a level of brilliance comparable to crystal. Framed by a steel bezel, the watch is characterized by a sense of restraint, while inside, Swarovski-exclusive Xilion crystals form three relief appliqué indexes on the two-level face. The swan, Swarovski’s logo, sits at the top of the face with a sunray finish and metallic effect, and is repeated beneath the cabochon glass of the crown.
As well as the case, which features the Swanflower™ on the back, the geometric influence can be found on the rubber strap and its eight pyramid-cut crystals. These three-dimensional stones are held in place by steel settings at the bottom, with the stones hand-set into either a white, black, prune or chocolate-coloured strap. Each steel dial coordinates with the strap and its buckle, while a golden steel version on chocolate rubber and a prune-coloured variant offer the most daring and fashionable colour combinations. Proposing a more traditional look, the “Elis” line also features the same steel model on a white or black genuine leather strap, as well as the same impeccably precise Swiss movement. The “Elis” is a sublime, subtly feminine choice.

OCTEA LADY
The “Octea Lady” line is made up of as many watches as there are days in the week, with seven versions available to the modern-day woman. This timeless design embodies femininity through the unique faceting of its bezel, which reflects the famous “Nirvana” ring, an icon of Swarovski design. The Swiss movement offers quality, reliability and longevity, thus perfectly complementing the incredibly precise faceting of the polished crystal.
Protected by a sapphire crystal watch glass, the minute and hour hands feature a luminova finish, while the second hand has a crystal-like hexagonal head and the date is displayed via an aperture. A metallic swan sits at the top of the dial, along with sparkling Arabic numerals and indexes, whose functional sobriety perfectly complements the eye-catching faceted crystal bezel.
The crown incorporates a metallic swan on a lacquer base, which along with the engraved Swanflower™ subtly identifies the brand. The watch’s crystal offers a soft and sensual fluidity which appeals to the senses. The bezel in Silver Shadow, Jet Hematite or Crystal is paired with a genuine leather strap in beige, pink, black or white. Waterproof up to 30 metres – like the entire 2009 collection – the “Octea Lady” is also available with a steel bracelet.
The golden version features a mother-of-pearl dial with five chatons, creating a sophisticated effect that is ideal for evening wear. Similarly, faceted links and horns confirm its eternally contemporary nature. With the “Octea Lady” line, watching time go by becomes a pleasure in itself.

ELIS
The ultimate blend of watch and jewellery design, this version of the “Elis” timepiece is directly inspired by fashion collections and owes its glamour to its emblematic material – the ultra-fluid Crystal Mesh. The “Elis” line plays upon the modernity of geometric forms, with this version offering greater femininity through the addition of a sparkling band. The precision movement incorporated within the highly fashionable piece ensures the quality of the design is matched by the precision of its timekeeping. The strap forms a river of crystal, illuminating the wrist with Jet Hematite, Light Rose, Golden Shadow or Crystal tones. Highly flexible and soft, the strap is lined with leather, while a magnetic clasp elegantly holds the piece in place.
Perfectly contrasting this feminine design, the steel case adds a traditional, formal touch with its large polished pyramid-shaped bezel. OCTEA Mini
The “Octea Mini” line fully embodies Swarovski’s approach to watchmaking for women. A classic piece of design, it transforms time into a powerful ally around the clock. The shape and colours of the watch are particularly feminine, and the incredible bezel demonstrates first-class craftsmanship. Made entirely of faceted crystal in either Silver Shade, Rosaline, Jet Hematite or Crystal tones, it reflects one of Swarovski’s most iconic jewellery pieces – the “Nirvana” ring.
Encircled by light, the galvanic face features an opaline sunray or mother-of-pearl finish that coordinates stylishly with a genuine leather strap in either a white, pink or black, or one made entirely of steel. The face of the “Octea Mini” model measures 24mm in diameter and is available in a range of designs, with both more traditional and contemporary options to choose from. For the double leather strap version, five poetic clear crystal chatons indicate the time, with the black or white leather of the strap an indispensable accessory and incorporating a further 18 miniature hand-set crystals.
Protected by a sapphire crystal, the dial features hand-set indexes along with a swan that is repeated on the crown. AVANT TIME N°1 D:LIGHT BY ERIC GIROUD FOR SWAROVSKI
Swarovski offers its visionary approach to timepieces through its “Avant Time” collection.
This exercise in style gives the full measure of the company’s savoir-faire, its creativity and its insatiable taste for innovation. It is an ambitious project which resulted in an avant-garde timepiece, “D:Light”. For this first edition, Nathalie Colin called upon the creative talent of renowned and audacious watch designer Eric Giroud.
The futuristic “D:Light” model offers a new vision of the concept of time, merging new electronic technologies with jewellery design. This futuristic timepiece has already established a place for itself as a reference among contemporary design and succeeds as nothing else could in highlighting time.
Artistically fashioned in super fine steel, this original design brings together the functions of emotion-creating watch, bracelet and collector’s item. Its rectangular dial is a real crystal screen, designed by Swarovski featuring 171 exclusive Xilion-cut crystals; the transparency of its setting maintains the mystery of time.
As if by magic, the time appears with a simple touch on the Swan cabochon. The crystals change colour, light up, sparkle and show the hours and minutes in luminous orange dotted lines. No date, no hands, just a 12- or 24-hour clock function. Its gold-tone steel bracelet with the wide faceted, polished links and butterfly clasp ensure it is reversible so it can be worn on the left or right hand.
The “D:Light” watch links refined aesthetics with an exceptional watch movement which was under exclusive development for several years by Swarovski.
Hiding an induction system, a stylish white charging dock enables the watch to fully recharge in three hours and should then remain charged for a month. Set on the dock, the timepiece transforms itself yet again and becomes a design piece.An original, contemporary expression, the playful and functional “D:Light” preserves the mysteries of time.
